About

A Message from AFDA President Asha Dooley.

The AFDA has led the funeral industry with the introduction of the Funeral Learning Hub (FLH) in 2023. As the leading industry body, we understand that to ensure all client families are being cared for in the most professional and dignified way; we need to invest in learning and development of all levels of our teams. As the association enters its 90th year, we are so proud to continue this tradition with the ever-dynamic FLH. From its inception where the foundation units have been added, we have expanded this offering to include lunch and learns, short webinars and upload recordings of the in -person trainings that we have conducted.

In an industry first, the FLH is now available to the general public who would like to learn before joining the funeral sector. This ensures AFDA members are mentoring people into the industry and we are able to point them to resources that we can trust to be reliable and knowledgeable.

We know that our people are our best asset and by using the FLH during the induction and on-boarding process we can set up our teams for ongoing success. The FLH also provides industry specific training as well as training in transferable skills such as leadership development, this gives us the opportunity to continually develop our teams.

The FLH is used in conjunction with our regular in person training and is designed to help people with developing at their own speed and in their own time as well as providing our leaders with tools to assist their teams.

As the National President of the AFDA, I invite you to get into the FLH and start with some courses, there is something in here for everyone, and please reach out to us if there is specific content that you would like added in. To become an AFDA member and to be able to provide this to all of your team as part of your membership dues, please contact the AFDA office or see our website.
